Is a member of FTMR, Chair of its Corporate and Real Estate Department, and member of its Executive Committee. He obtained a BS in finance with honors from Villanova University in Pennsylvania (1995), a JD, cum laude, from the University Of Puerto Rico School Of Law (1998), where he was a member of the law review, and an LLM Degree from Columbia Law School in New York (2003) with honors (Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar). Mr. Rovira–Rullán is admitted to practice before the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the State of New York, he is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York Bar Association, and the Puerto Rico Bar Association.
He joined FTMR in 2004 after serving as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of a publicly traded financial institution. Before that Mr. Rovira–Rullán worked as an associate in the Corporate Department of McConnell Valdés from 1998 until 2002, where he was one of the founding members of the firm's Internet and Patent Law Practice Group as well as a member of its Corporate and Public Finance Practice Group.
Mr. Rovira–Rullán has been rated by Chambers & Partners in its 2010 edition of Chambers Latin America as a Leader in Corporate Law and Intellectual Property. He has served as adjunct professor at the University Of Puerto Rico School Of Law, where since the 2001–02 academic year he has offered Internet Law, Business Organization and Mergers and Acquisitions. He is past Chairman of the Puerto Rico Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Law Committee (2007–08) and past member of its Corporate Law Committee (2004–05) as well as former Co–General Counsel and director of the Internet Society of Puerto Rico (2001–03). Mr. Rovira–Rullán has also worked as a member of the local bar's drafting committee (2000) and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Sapientis, a local non–profit that works to improve the quality of public education in Puerto Rico.
He has been a speaker in several conferences dealing with corporate law and/or intellectual property and is the co–author of the law review article "On the Eve of the 21st Century: The Millennium Bug; Financial Institutions and the Year 2000 Problem", published in the University of Puerto Rico Law Review, 67 Rev. Jur. Upr. 395 (1998) and of the law review article "Recording Industry Continues to Sing the Tune of On–line Copyright Infringement: A Proposal for Solving the P2P Dilemma", published in the Puerto Rico Bar Association Law Review, Vol. 63, Num. 4 (2002). He has also published various newspaper and magazine features on Corporate Law, Intellectual Property, Information Technology and Internet Law.
His principal areas of practice include general corporate law, including business organization, mergers and acquisitions (local and cross border experience), real estate, contracts, commercial lending, intellectual property, tourism, trusts and wills and estates.
